Increase Your Omegas

The dry air of the winter season has been shown to inflame the eyes’ tear glands, partially closing off tear flow. One way to ease this inflammation is to consume a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids. If your diet is low of these helpful nutrients, taking a fish oil supplement will help to up your intake and increase the amount of tears heading to your eyes. A fish oil supplement helps to improve the health of the glands, the quality of tear film and has also been shown to thin out the oil gland secretions, although it could take up to 3 months to see any improvement. Aim for 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams a day and be sure to ask your doctor or a nutritionist to recommend a reputable brand.

Very important: Always make sure you discuss and make decisions about your eye care based upon a formal appointment with your optician.
