- Drops can help with symptoms such as itchy eyes, lacrimation, redness, watery discharge, stinging and burning.
- You could try artificial tears that have no medication, or drops that contain:
- Antihistamines: They provide short-term relief.
- Some eye drops contain both antihistamines and mast cell stabilisers for fast and long-lasting relief.
- Do not use for more than 2 -3 days.
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): They can help, but they sting or burn a little when you put them in.
- Prescription corticosteroids: You may relieve severe or chronic symptoms, but you will use them only for a short time.if you have eye allergies and contact lenses, ask your eye care professional for eye drops to retain your lenses.
